Marcus Duchen was raised in a big city, São Paulo, and realized his creative destiny in a small city, Alfenas, in bucolic Minas Gerais' state. Between beautiful mountains, little houses, and small groups of families, he discovered bigger life. Contemporary and abstract can describe only a part of the intention because Marcus' paintings mirror a reality that can not be imagined in any other place in the world. He expresses his work with its discomforts, melancholy, hope, and more.

“The sense for a work of art to be something, a material that lends itself to the new, has to reveal what is pleasing to the eye and perceptions, and what is also uncomfortable, the Hiatus of being. So we are not dealing here with a definition of what is beautiful. Rather, an investigation of a Human universe with its idiosyncrasies.
Everything that the painting treats, such as color, composition, saturation, invoice and many other universes, if put through common sense, what can reveal a part of an inscribed truth.
Sometimes I appeal, due to motivational necessity, in everyday themes, such as a landscape, a look at a common attitude, or even a figure where the figurative presence of a being is clearly perceived. However, always undergoing an analysis of the re framing of things common to our eyes. It is, therefore, a research in which there is no appeal for something totally abstract, but an analysis of an immediate and often geographical reality.
